Created for the Scottish curriculum our lesson takes the whole school on a journey to save food from the bin.
Food waste is a current, real world environmental issue and this pack sets learners a current, real world challenge – reducing the good food we chuck out. It encourages learners to consider the scale of food waste within the school and in Scotland as a whole.
Suitable for both primary and secondary schools, this pack can be used by itself or along with the classroom-based Love Food Hate Waste lessons.
Through the ‘Autopsy of food waste’ lesson you’ll get to grips with the food being wasted during lunchtime at your school and inspire your learners to take the lead in reducing what is thrown away by becoming ‘Waste Warriors’. You can record your efforts through our group on Glow and when you’ve reached your reduction target we’ve put together some suggestions on how to celebrate.
This pack is complemented by our Monitoring Toolkit which will give you all the practical information to get your project off the ground. There’s also a toolkit available for your catering team to get them on board too.
