Information Requests

If the information you are looking for is not included in our Model Publication Scheme (MPS) guide or our website, you can submit a Freedom of Information (FOI) request through our information request form.

From the 1st of April 2025, Zero Waste Scotland will be subject to information requests by the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) and Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIR). 

From the 1st of April onwards Zero Waste Scotland will regularly disclose our responses to any information request under FOISA or EIR.

Making an information request

When making a request, you should provide a name and email or postal address for correspondence and a description of the information you would like to see.

Please be specific about the information that you are looking for and any specific time periods you are interested in — it helps us to identify what you require and answer your request more promptly. 

We will never sell your data and we promise to keep your details safe and secure. Any personal data collected will be processed for the purpose of responding to your enquiry. To find out more, read our privacy notice.

Exemptions and exceptions

There are certain circumstances when some or all of the information you request may not be released because it is sensitive or personal. If this is the case, we will write to you and explain why.

Any request for personal information will be treated as a Subject Access Request. The request form and more information can be found on our privacy notice

If you are unhappy with our response, you can ask us to review it. If you are still unhappy with our review, you can make an appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner.
