These workshops provide support in relation to the delivery of a Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy following publication of an LHEES. 

Collaboration and stakeholder engagement

This workshop introduces the problem-solving canvas as a practical systems thinking tool for targeted collaboration and stakeholder engagement. 

Case studies are provided from Nesta on the clean heat neighbourhoods projects, Vattenfall on engaging with heat network developers and the Energy Landscape on engaging with District Network Operators.

Decarbonisation technologies

This workshop introduces different technologies that support the decarbonisation of heat at scale. Looking at heat pumps, heat network generations and their application to different building typologies.

Also includes a focus on historic buildings and the principles that underpin Smart Local Energy Systems.

Funding and financing of low carbon technologies

This workshop provides an overview of emerging funding and financing mechanisms beyond the traditional grant funding. 

Including the constraints and challenges around funding and financing with a case study provided by PowerCircle on accessing low carbon energy at scale with an example from Essex County Council and Essex Community Energy CIC.

Heat networks

This workshop outlines considerations for small and medium sized heat networks including energy supply, urban vs rural demands, technical feasibility of different systems, construction and considerations on operation and maintenance of heat networks. Case studies provided with examples of the Clyde Gateway regeneration project and a small scale community network in the village of Tanygrisiau, Wales.

Skills and supply chain

This workshop provides an overview of skills and supply chain challenges and opportunities within the heat and energy efficiency sector. It also considers practical levers and tools that local authorities can use in this space. Case studies provided on support within the supply chain with contributions from Scottish Enterprise, Fife Council and Energy Savings Trust.
