Principal Transformation Lead (Communications)

12 - 18 Months Fixed Term Contract

Zero Waste Scotland has a unique opportunity for a senior communications professional to join our organisation during an exciting period of change. We’re looking for a strategic thinker who can draw on the knowledge and expertise within the organisation, alongside external insight, to shape and determine our long-term strategic external communications approach.

Reporting to the Director of Customer Engagement and Communications, and collaborating with key internal stakeholders, this role will lead, design, develop and drive the delivery of a reputation and profile strategy, and oversee the development of our digital communications strategy. This role will also drive the development and promotion of Zero Waste Scotland’s corporate profile, working with the Head of Communications who leads our talented communications team.

This is a distinct project over the next 12-18 months that sits as part of our Transformation programme.

A core element of our Transformation programme is to make our communications, relationships, and partnerships effective in extending our reach to support our mission: to accelerate and support Scotland’s just transition to zero waste and a circular economy.

The ideal candidate

Our Principal Transformation Lead (Communications) will be a dynamic, innovative, creative, commercial thinker with a solution focused approach. As an experienced communications leader you will be at the forefront of cutting edge and transformative communications. With the innate ability and experience to develop corporate or institutional reputation strategy, you will also have expertise in driving and enhancing external communications. Additionally, you will have demonstrable experience delivering national, impactful campaigns that stimulate behavioural and cultural change. - targeting consumers as well as private, public and academic sectors.  

The successful candidate will pride themselves on interpersonal skills and will strive for the very best service delivery. Zero Waste Scotland’s brand and communications will be pioneering – the role holder will have demonstrable ability to look ahead, imagine the future and captivate others, as they lead by example.

Experience and/or a demonstrable understanding of transformation activity would be an advantage.

Salary and benefits

£59,170 (pay range is £59,170 - £65,745)

Location: Stirling / Flexible / Homebased working considered

This role is based in our Stirling office located next to Stirling railway station and is conveniently accessed from across central Scotland. We are leading by example in reducing our carbon footprint by embracing hybrid and permanent home working and actively encourage this for colleagues where practicable. There will be times for business needs that you are required to attend the office or a client location (normally within the Central Belt of Scotland).
