£34,376 (pay range is £34,376 - £39,661 and the successful candidate will be appointed to the starting point).

Permanent – 35 Hours per week

The Role:

Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s resource efficiency and circular economy expert is looking for an experienced digital content manager who will maximise opportunities to engage with our key audiences by creating and delivering innovative, creative and forward-thinking digital content & projects that influence behaviour change across Scotland. 

Specifically, the role will be accountable for:

  • Developing, writing and implementing audience-focused digital content strategies and planning, writing and commissioning content production, to help Zero Waste Scotland tomeet its strategic goals and demonstrate impact;
  • Adding and publishing content to a suite of websites, as well as approving content from the wider organisation and partner content developers by providing support with the editing and publishing of content in line with content strategies and guidelines;
  • Leading on the delivery of variety of exciting digital communications projects, as directed by the Digital Communications Manager;
  • Working closely with the Design Manager to ensure all content is created in line with Zero Waste Scotland brand guidelines, its visual and verbal identity, and its wider strategy and to ensure it is aligned to prioritised audience segments.


The candidate:

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate a track record of creating engaging content for a wide range of digital platforms, across a range of topics and for a variety of audiences, and be able to use these skills to achieve impact and engagement. The successful candidate will have the ability to create high quality blogs, articles, social media posts, campaigns, video and other rich media content under short deadlines and should also have the ability to react to trending topics and the news agenda. Excellent attention to detail, combined with first-class organisation, project and time management skills are also essential to manage and prioritise a high volume of diverse content requirements.

You will also use your experience to ensure content delivers results and demonstrates success through robust evaluation.

Educated to degree level, or with experience in a relevant discipline, you will have:

  • A strong working knowledge of current digital communications content approaches, channels and techniques;
  • Demonstratable & relevant experience of delivering high profile, engaging digital communications content delivery and projects;
  • Experience in developing, managing and maintaining complex, information-rich websites and content management systems;
  • Experience of creating and managing engaging, high-profile social media campaigns, channels and associated tools;
  • An understanding of the fundamentals of behaviour change communication
