Consultant (Recycling)

Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s resource efficiency and circular economy expert, is looking for a knowledgeable and analytical individual who will support the pipelining, assessment and implementation of Local Authorities’ RIF applications and projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and motivated professional to join our organisation as part of our Recycling Improvement Fund (RIF) team.  The RIF is a £70million five-year Scottish Government initiative which aims to support Local Authorities to improve their recycling infrastructure to increase the volume and improve the quality of material collected for Recycling or Reuse.

Reporting to the RIF Manger and collaborating with Zero Waste Scotland’s RIF and Recycling team colleagues, this role will coordinate the collation of data, support the identification of new applications, the review applications and contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the RIF.  In addition to these activities the Recycling Consultant will assist in the production of papers for the RIF Board on a quarterly basis.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role it is essential to have a broad general knowledge of the circular economy and its application in Scotland’s resource management sector.  The ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the Scottish resource management landscape and the challenges that Local Authorities will have to overcome to successfully design and implement a RIF funded project would be advantageous.

Salary and benefits

£36,815 (pay range is £36,815 - £41,760)

Location:  Stirling

This role is based in our Stirling office located next to Stirling railway station and is conveniently accessed from across central Scotland.  We are leading by example in reducing our carbon footprint by embracing permanent home working and actively encourage this for colleagues where practicable. There will be times for business needs that you are required to attend the office or a client location (normally within the Central Belt of Scotland), therefore applicants should live within a daily commutable distance of Stirling.
