Sustainable Business Week is coming to Angus

Businesses in Angus can get free support and funding to help them cut their energy, water and waste bills and save money during Angus Sustainable Business Week, 21 - 25 August, 2017.

14 Jul 17

Sustainable Business Week is open to all small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Angus and will be held at a number of venues in the region.

The week is run by Zero Waste Scotland’s Resource Efficient Scotland programme, with the support of Angus Council, Angus & Dundee Chamber of Commerce and Business Gateway Angus.

Local SMEs can receive free training and attend workshops to learn practical tips on how to tackle the rising costs of energy, water and waste to help them boost their profits. They will also learn about funding sources available to implement resource efficiency projects. This includes guidance on how to apply for the interest-free SME Loan from the Scottish Government.

Workshops will be presented by experts from Zero Waste Scotland’s Resource Efficient Scotland programme, which is funded by the Scottish Government and European Regional Development Funds to help businesses become more resource efficient.

These events include:

  • A Green Champions training workshop, an accredited one-day training course that provides attendees with basic skills needed to identify resource efficiency opportunities within their business to save money.
  • A breakfast briefing for business managers on how they can finance their resource efficiency investment projects
  • Resource Efficiency clinics - bookable face-to-face meetings with an advisor who can provide in-depth tailored advice on how your business can lower the costs of its utility bills through energy efficiency and resource efficiency
  • Showcase Tours featuring local businesses in Angus who have successfully taken action to reduce their energy, water and waste costs and the impact it has had on their business

“Cutting energy, water and waste costs can boost a business’s bottom line. The events of Sustainable Business Week are designed to help Angus businesses discover how easy it can be to reduce expenditure and grow profits. Even small changes can make a big difference, benefitting the environment, the local economy and your business. I encourage you to take part,” said Councillor Ron Sturrock, Spokesperson for Economic Development, Angus Council.

Warren McIntyre, Business Support Programme Manager, Zero Waste Scotland, added: “Our resource efficiency experts have already helped to identify £42 million worth of savings for organisations in Scotland. We’ll be sharing our experience with businesses in Angus throughout the week and providing practical advice on how to build a profitable and sustainable business.”

Businesses can find out more and register on the Angus Sustainable Business Week page.
