MKN043-002 China Market Update
Closing date: 10 August 10

The aim of this work is to provide WRAP with an overview of current trends and forecasts of future trends for the recovered plastics market in China, and the associated implications for UK exports of recovered plastics.

The aim of this work is to provide an updated BSI PAS 100:2005 plant response test that fully meets stakeholder expectations with particular regard to the detection of persistent herbicide residues that may be present following processing of botanical materials treated with these herbicides.

The aim of this work is to understand and contextualise the potential risks to sensitive agricultural and field horticultural crops from persistent herbicides (including clopyralid, aminopyralid and picloram) that might be present in feedstocks destined for processing by anaerobic digestion.

This project will involve an investigation of the fate of Clostridium botulinum and the botulinum toxin during the composting and anaerobic digestion processes and an investigation of the risk to humans and livestock when compost or digestates are applied to soil.

This work will comprise a comprehensive research project that will deliver:

  • An understanding and contextualization of any residual risks associated with the use of source-segregated anaerobic digestates (biofertilisers) in different agriculture and field horticulture sectors;
  • A draft ‘Biofertiliser use matrix’;
  • A set of sector-focused guidance on how best to realise the benefits of biofertilisers in agriculture and field horticulture.

This work will identify and categorise buying specifications that enable products to be repaired and built to last longer, be more upgradable, and yield higher value materials at the end of their life.
