Zero Waste Scotland is a programme managed by the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) on behalf of the Scottish Government. Zero Waste Scotland supports delivery of the Scottish Government’s Zero Waste policy goals. This role will be based in Stirling and supports activity within Zero Waste Scotland’s Business Resource Efficiency Programme.
The Business Resource Efficiency Programme works across business sectors in Scotland to promote resource efficiency through waste prevention, reuse and recycling, as well as supporting businesses to take advantage of the commercial opportunities emerging as Scotland moves towards a zero waste society. Our programme is extending to include more targeted support to the Scottish utilities and aggregate sectors as Scotland transitions to a low carbon economy. In this role you will be responsible for providing Zero Waste Scotland with knowledge leadership in the Scottish utilities and aggregate sectors. You will represent Zero Waste Scotland externally and develop strong relevant senior level contacts with government, industry, professional institutes and trade associations. The role will also involve the identification and development of new initiatives that support Zero Waste Scotland’s targets within the afore mentioned sectors.
Job description:
Reporting to the Key Account Manager for Construction, you will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of a range of advisory and demonstration projects within the utilities and aggregates sectors to increase recycling and diversion of construction, demolition and excavation waste from disposal and for the provision of technical advice to projects in receipt of Zero Waste Scotland/WRAP funding. An initial key focus of the role will be to identify opportunities to extend existing programmes and propose practical approaches to take them forward. The role will require you to work with other teams in WRAP and across the Nations as well as Zero Waste Scotland. The role will involve from time to time some overnight stays during the working week and remote working. A full job description and application pack is available online.
Key requirements:
You will have detailed knowledge and experience of Scottish utilities sector, aggregate industry and civil construction related projects. You will have a detailed understanding of the operational aspects of utilities and civil related construction projects and the materials and waste streams generated from this type of activity. If no direct operational experience then you must be able to demonstrate relevant project-based experience. You will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or hold an equivalent relevant professional qualification and be a confident presenter and communicator.
