Scotwaste is a leading integrated skip hire and waste management business serving customers in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Livingston and throughout central Scotland.

The family-owned firm aims to prioritise sustainability over profit, with a team of sales staff on hand to help all businesses, big or small, find the right service for them while ensuring they’re recycling as much as they can and complying with the Waste (Scotland) Regulations. The regulations require all organisations in Scotland to separate key materials for recycling.

Scotland’s Resource Sector Commitment is a ‘kite mark’ for resource management companies, requiring signatories to demonstrate consistent standards for business waste collections and excellent customer service, including promoting the benefits of resource efficiency to its customers.

The commitment is for any organisation involved in providing waste or resource management services to commercial customers in Scotland.  This includes local authorities, private and third sector resource management businesses and resource management associations and trade bodies.

Charlie Devine, Head of Resource Management at Zero Waste Scotland said:

“I’m delighted to announce that Scotwaste has become the latest organisation to sign up to Scotland’s Resource Sector Commitment, helping us to achieve the milestone of 20 signatories.  The firm is a great example of how service and sustainability can go hand in hand with success, and I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.

“Signing up to the commitment is a great way to show customers that they’re striving for excellence and to really stand out from the crowd.  It’s a fantastic achievement to meet and exceed this milestone, and I hope to see other organisations in the industry following suit and becoming a signatory.”

Stewart Melrose, Director of Scotwaste said:

“It’s important for any business in our industry to demonstrate commitment to the environment and its finite resources, and Scotwaste is no different. As a family business we have been striving for excellence in service and value to our customers since 1972 and this recognition will allow us to show existing, and potential, supporters that there’s more going on behind the scenes with their end of life materials to ensure sustainability going forward.”
