Use deposit and return schemes
Some manufacturers operate deposit and return schemes, where shoppers get money back if they return empty product packaging so that they can reuse it. For example Barrs, the producers of Irn Bru, will give customers 30p back for every empty Barrs glass bottle that gets returned.
