Businesses of all size are increasingly looking to waste less and use resources better – saving them money and meeting customer demands.

Zero Waste Scotland programme provides free confidential advice and support to all sizes of business, through a combination of online resources and hands-on support. We also run networking events designed to facilitate business-to-business resource solutions.

We offer the following range of services and interventions...

Green Street
Green Street is a virtual tour designed to help your business become more resource efficient.

This easy to use guide consists of commonly found business types including a hotel, restaurant, public house, office and factory. Each building has up to six different rooms relating to the type of services each establishment provides. Within the different rooms there are a variety of “hotspots” containing tips and advice on how to make that item more resource efficient and where to find out more information.

Click on the building you wish to visit, then use the navigation bar at the bottom of the page to enter specific rooms. Click on the hotspots to access the information.

Embedding Behaviour Change Tool
Zero Waste Scotland provides an Embedding Behaviour Change tool, which provides businesses with practical advice on how to motivate staff and influence senior management to bring about behaviour change.

Indicator Tool
The Zero Waste Scotland Indicator is an interactive web-based tool designed to allow Scottish businesses, irrespective of their size or industry sector, to gain a useful indication of their company’s environmental impact and the financial savings that can be made by addressing it.

Water Efficiency (The Big Splash)
The BigSplash is an initiative to provide companies in Scotland with dedicated help in their efforts to reduce their water use and wastewater. Companies and organisations can request BigSplash services online to receive FREE, tailored advice to help you:
- Understand how much water you use
- Identify simple ways to start saving water and money
- Measure the water and cost savings that you have made

Support for SMEs
Small and Medium Enterprises are important to the Scottish Economy, representing 97% of Scotland's businesses. It is recognised that without intensive support, many small businesses do not have the resources to improve their environmental performance. The Small Business Support Programme aims to provide free assistance to Scotland's small business community in order to realise cost savings, new sales, reduced risk and competitive advantage through improvements in resource efficiency.
